theories such as contingency theory, information process theory, theories of decision making, and theories of entrepreneurship. Environmental uncertainty is a predictor of decision-makers’ behaviors and organizational behaviors and structures and also a moderator of the relationship between organizational behaviors and structures and organizational performance. A widely accepted view contends that environmental uncertainty is the key ingredient influencing organizational structure—the more
uncertainty resulting from technological and environmental factors, the more the organization will compensate by departing from bureaucratic structure toward a decentralized mode of operation.
